Kid Rock Vs. The Beyhive

Anyone who has even the slightest interest in social media will have heard about the Kid Rock vs The Beyhive fiasco. A few weeks ago Kid Rock made a statement about Beyoncé that has angered many members of the ‘Beyhive’. In an interview with rolling stone magazine, Kid Rock said that he was ‘flabbergasted’ by Beyoncé’s success, pointing out that she hasn't made any big hits like ‘sweet home Alabama’ or ‘purple rain’. He then went on to imply that he doesn’t find her attractive, saying that he ‘prefers skinny white chickswith big tits’. 

Beyoncé’s fans responded by flooding his Instagram comments with bee emoji’s representing their support for the singer. But it does make you wonder, is any publicity good publicity? Many members of the Beyhive may not have heard of Kid Rock before he made these comments, even non Beyoncé fans who aren’t into his music may suddenly take an interest. Some could argue that the fact that he has a new album out is enough reason to make negative comments towards one of the biggest female artists in the world, in order to drum up some publicity for himself and create a buzz.

I guess it is fair to wonder whether or not he actually made these comments to purposely grab attention, or if he was just honestly speaking his mind. If the comments were made for publicity, did they achieve their aim? Although he has had a significant reaction, it is predominantly negative, and who knows, he may have even lost fans by saying what he said. One thing we do know, is that it will take A LOT of positive PR to get any Beyoncé fans back on his side. Although it doesn’t look like that will be happening anytime soon after he Instagrammed this picture.
